"I assumed the position of SVP, Worldwide Sales and Service at Avici on April 1, 2003. I knew people at Mike’s firm in the U.S., but my family and I had been living in the United Kingdom for the past few years. I was working in the UK when Mike contacted me about the Avici position. Mike was very professional and proactive. He was like a good dealmaker who effectively works both sides, between the client and the candidate.

"The one real issue I had about the whole search process was that the company seemed to be taking a long time to make a decision. It turned out this was because the CEO was doing his own reference checks on me. I was communicating directly with the CEO by then, and I was getting concerned. It was my choice to communicate directly with the CEO, but Mike stayed involved as a facilitator, an intermediary, and a sounding board.
